In some builds it is preferred to place the pickup under the lid of the box,

this practice is often referred to as "ghosting". Many builders have had good success using the MGB Mini Box Buckers for these applications.  MGB is proud to introduce our new Lucky 13 flat pup designed for ghosting.

By adding more wire and strengthening the magnetic field we have a solid solution. These new pickups measure 13k ohms plus. We have found in testing that the pickups work well when the distance from the pickup to the strings is .5".  Make sure the magnets face the strings.

Measuring 2.56" by 1.6" and .3" thick, these pickups can be used on 3,4 and 6 string builds. Works with our 6 string Boxbucker covers.

Great Sound

I've made quite a few CBG'S with this pickup they sound great and they're responsibility priced. They're perfect for ghosting.

Perfect

These ghost pickups are all I use these days. They are loud and easily mountable. Customers love the option of having them ghosted or mounted on top of the cigar box. These are perfect!

Lucky 13 almost all I use

The Lucky 13 is my go to pickup. I ghost it near the neck to keep top of the box clean and logos intact. The sound is powerful and tone is great.

My Favorite Pickup

The Lucky 13 is my go-to pickup. It is powerful enough to put under the lid (ghost) of pretty much any box and still come across strong - never under powered. I usually combine the Lucky 13 humbucker with two Seven Fittys (wired in parallel for that higher single coil sound).

KILLER mid/neck compliment to a standard bridge humbucker!!!

My builds are meant to be fully-giggable 6-string CBG's that one could play at any type of performance, from gnarly portable-amp "busking" to a full-on band gig. I like combining piezos and other "traditional CBG" style electronics with your contemporary standard electric guitar pickups and such, wired either with switches or with separate knobs to blend in all pickups (think "J-bass" wiring), and I've used the Lucky 13 in two builds as a neck position and middle position, respectively, both under-the-lid installs. I love how it almost creates a completely different voice for the guitar, offering less output than the bridge pickup (due to the distance), but maintains a full-bodied, clear sound. I call it my "secret rhythm circuit". When these come back in stock, I'm planning on trying to do a build with two of these under the lid (in neck and bridge positions) with a 3-way switch, for a box that I want to leave intact on top. Also eventually would like to do a couple with these on top of the lid with the boxbucker cover for an almost steampunk look.
