These things are great. I've built several instruments with them and they have a great sound that really projects without needing an amplifier. They've been good sellers and I'm looking forward to building more.

This small aluminum cone produces huge sound very impressed with the results you can leave it wide open or choose many of the different covers that MGB has to offer but definitely worth the money!!!

Between the Aluminum Resonator Cone and the paint can lid cones, the Aluminum Res Cone wins hands down. The margin for error in cutting the opening for the paint can lid is near nil. There is literally just a ledge for the cone to rest on which is far to close for comfort. The Aluminum Cone is also thinner which in my view produces a more favorable tone.
The resonator has enough added build idiosyncrasies without allowing something as simple as cutting an opening to lesson your chances for a successful build.
Do yourself a favor and run away from the paint lid. Your project will be glad you did!
