Use this template for marking locations of the 6 mounting holes for the MGB T-Plates. The template also provides location and shape of holes for the pickups. Hot Rail or blades style pickups are used near bridge and a single coil can be used in the neck position. The template includes notches for lining up with both the center-line of the box and the scale length location.  Made from 1/8 inch acrylic. Product ships with protective mask in place.

I saw my first cigar box guitar in 2009 and decided to build one. I do not play and knew nothing about building stringed instruments. It was a fun exercise and I was pretty happy with the results. I was quickly surprised at the positive response I received from friends and family. One thing led to another and eventually I started a little parts business focused on the needs of CBG builders. Over time my inventory of ready to play CBGs grew substantially. I have well over 100 instruments that need new homes. MGB kits are made for people with a fundamental knowledge of building stringed instruments. There are many videos available on our Youtube Channel that can provide help. We are also available by phone to help. MGB kits are made to order and can take a few extra days to prepare. They may ship in a few days or could take up to a week. Easy to assemble kit includes everything needed to build a 3 or 4 string license plate guitar, using your favorite 6x12 inch license plate. Kit includes: Reinforced Sapele body specifically made for license plate builds. The body is reinforced and machined with necessary mounting holes for adding components. Kit includes Deluxe Easy Neck.  Lucky 13 pickup with harness ready to install. Pickup has double sided tape and can be mounted on the back of the license plate near the neck. Hardware includes tuners, strings, stainless steel tailpiece, knobs, strap pins and screws. A rosewood bridge that may need to be modified to fit around the letters to obtain the preferred action height.  Assembly is easy: Mount harness/jack assembly to box. Feed ground wire through small hole where tail piece mounts.  Affix pickup to back side of plate. Install tuners on headstock, use a small amount of super glue to secure the Rosewood string spacer on at the end of the fretboard just beyond the zero fret. Mount neck on the body using reinforcement plate and hardware. Mount plate to box using screws. Install the tailpiece. Install strings and only tighten lightly. Locate the bridge where the fret saddle on the bridge is 24 inches from the nut. Modify the bridge to get the right action height. Included are: 12” x 8" x 2 1/2"  box that is reinforced, fully machined and ready for assembly. 25.5 inch scale MGB Super Neck  Rosewood and Maple fretted neck with side and face markers. The neck is predrilled for 3 or 4 tuners. Neck has zero fret and includes appropriate string spacer. Neck reinforcement plate is included. MGB chrome blade style pickup with 500k push pull pot harness soldered, tested and ready to install. This allows switching between single coil and humbucker operation.  Chrome tuners, bridge, strap pins and knobs. Pack of .013, .017, .026 or .013, .017, .026 and .036 strings. Use a 10mm deep well socket for tuners and 7/16' for the neck hanger bolt.  Assembly available HERE
