Minimum box length is 9 inches, box not included. Includes 8 string17 inch scale neck that is sanded and finished. Neck has hanger bolt and hardware for easy mounting on any box. Frets and fret board installed, includes slotted bone nut. Include a right and left tuner set with hardware. Rosewood bridge with bone saddle and two filler plugs. Four labeled nylon strings.

Building this kit is very similar to all of our other ukulele kits. Please note that with 8 strings the tension is more that double that of a standard ukulele neck. Make sure to have a solid box with reinforcements as necessary. Scale length of 17 inches from inside edge of nut to center of saddle must be maintained. Our standard Tenor template will not work with this kit, use the 8 string template found here.

Great product

The kit comes with a regular tie bridge with 8 string holes. I wanted to add a preamp and a piezo Rod pickup, so I cut the bridge in half and used the side with the string holes as a tailpiece. I bolted this on for insurance as there will be roughly 300 pounds tension pulling. Because I didn’t want to push things I have the Uke tuned like a baritone, D, G, B, E. I used the strings supplied but will probably upgrade to a better set. Interestingly I happened to use the same box as the picture on the web site. My only knock against the neck is the headstock is sized for a guitar, so proportions are a bit off. A smaller mandolin style would look better.
