This kit includes everything needed to build a Mandolin except for the body. The neck is Okume with a Walnut fretboard. Binding and face and side fret markers are included. The scale length is 13 3/4 inches. The neck also includes a truss rod. A compensated and adjustable Walnut bridge is included along with a chrome tailpiece. Tuners and a truss rod cover are included. Four pairs of stings are provided including .012, .016, .026 and .032 sizes. Tuning is GDAE.

Note: Keep in mind the tension created by 8 strings is substantial, all boxes will need additional reinforcement to handle the added stress. Make sure the top where the neck is connected is thick (close to 1/2" is ideal) and rigid. You will note that two hanger bolts are used to provide and solid connection between the neck and the box.

Amazing gift! MGB fan!

Daughter gave me one of these already assembled for Christmas. What a surprise! I've purchased from MGB for other projects and have never been disappointed. Prices great! Quality great!

As an amateur luthier, I flattened the bottom of the bridge so it had solid contact on the box surface. I will dress the frets next as they have small edges I can feel when I play it, but they are not bad. Overall, extremely happy.

I discovered MGB when I was repairing a 1945 Supro lap steel. The pickup was shot and finding a replacement was becoming a real chore. I gutted the old pickup and installed a Five Dolla Make it Holla 6-string pickup under the original pickup cover. Winner!

Electric Mandolin

I purchased the mandolin kit from MGB and it worked perfectly for my electric mandolin project. The kit came well equipped to finish the project and only a pickup and controls were needed.
