All strings are packed in a corrosion resistant envelope and then packed in a reclosable 4 mil bag. MGB is pleased to provide 3 string packs. These made in the US strings are available in several popular assortments. MGB strings are available in two styles, Plain Steel and Nickel Wound. Plain Steel strings are thinner and used in the lower positions on a instrument and create higher pitches. Nickel Wound strings are much thicker and heavier and used on the higher positions on an instrument and create lower pitches. Using a combination of different styles and diameters tuned to different pitches is the goal. The scale length of the neck is also critical a factor in selecting the correct strings. Scales lengths from 24-25.5 inches are the standard for guitars. We generally make recommendations for scale lengths in that range. If the scale length is longer or shorter, other strings may work better. Picking the right strings are a personal choice. At MGB we tend to prefer lighter strings like .013, .017 and .026 tuned to GDG. We offer an assortment of sizes in both styles. We also offer different quantities, you can buy one, three or a dozen strings. We believe our offering provides lots of options for builders. You can pick your favorite strings or do some experimentation with different strings. MGB's CBG cheat sheet is a valuable tool for better understanding the different pitches we are referring to and can be found HERE. Having a digital caliper in your toolbox is helpful when you need to identify a string.

3-String Bridge | Antique Brass Finish $14.00

This bridge is a "top-loading" style, which means that the strings are fed through the back plate of the bridge, then up and over the saddles. No drilling through the instrument/box is required! The dimensions of these bridges are 1 31/32" (50mm) wide, 1 5/8" (41mm) deep and about 9/16" (14mm) tall. The spacing between strings is 12mm (0.472", just under 1/2") with total distance from string 1 to string 3 being 24mm or 0.945" - just under 1 inch. Each one is mounted securely by four screws, and a small allen wrench is also included for adjusting the small set screws that control string action height. See the listing photo with measurements (in millimeters) for more size specs. Basically, these get used like any bottom-loading electric guitar bridge (like those on telecasters and such). You screw it to the top of the instrument, and the strings come up through holes in the instrument body (usually with a ferrule of some sort on the back to hold the string ball), and then up and over the individual string saddles. Traditional 3 string bridges have a narrow 12 mm spacing between strings. This places the strings close together and can can be challenging for players with bigger hands and fingers. The new MGB XL bridge solves that problem providing a bridge with ample spacing. The spacing between strings on the new XL Bridge is 16mm (0.625", just under 5/8") with total distance from string 1 to string 3 being 32mm or 1.25 inches which works perfectly with a 1 1/2 inch neck.
