These low-profile pickups are designed specifically for surface mounting on cigar box guitars. They eliminate the need for cutting a large hole in the box and slotting the neck. Simply mount on the surface of the box and run the wire through a small hole to connect with the rest of the electronics.
This pickup is rated at 3k, so it's nice and hot for guitar installations! Make sure the magnets face the strings.
