Point Five O

In some builds it is preferred to place the pickup under the lid of the box, this practice is often referred to as "ghosting". Many builders have had good success using the MGB Mini Box Buckers for these applications. MGB is proud to introduce our new single coil Point Five O flat pup designed for ghosting. Make sure the magnets face the strings.
By adding more wire and strengthening the magnetic field we have a solid solution. These new pickups are a single coil version of the Lucky 13 pickup. They only have one coil and measure 6.5 k ohms plus, thus the name Point Five O or .5. We have found in testing that the pickups work well when the distance from the pickup to the strings is .5".
Measuring 2.56" by 1.6" and .3" thick, these pickups can be used on 3,4 and 6 string builds. Works with our 6 string Boxbucker covers.

Reinforcement plate for bolt on necks

For use on all MGB bolt on necks. This one inch by three inch 11 gauge steel plate provides additional rigidity to the connection between the neck and the top of the box. The elongated slots accepts 1/4 inch or 10mm hanger bolts.

RSG Pickup- Mini Box Bucker or Micro Pup

The RSG pickup is a complete system that includes a pickup, harness and cover ready to install. Uses an MGB 4.0 Mini Box Bucker pickup which is soldered to a 500K economy harness, or a 3.0 Micro Pup and 250K harness. The pickup is secured into a cover. This pickup can be mounted anywhere between the neck and the bridge to provide excellent sound. The cover is .3 inches thick so make sure there is a .3 difference between the top of the frets and the top of the box.
Assembly is quick and easy, simply drill a one inch hole at the pickup location and feed the jack and pots through the hole, secure the pickup with the provided screws then mount the pots and the jack.
The RSG pickups are available in four popular finishes including shiny aluminum, black, gold and antique brass. Each pickup is fully tested to insure optimum performance.

I saw my first cigar box guitar in 2009 and decided to build one. I do not play and knew nothing about building stringed instruments. It was a fun exercise and I was pretty happy with the results. I was quickly surprised at the positive response I received from friends and family. One thing led to another and eventually I started a little parts business focused on the needs of cbg builders.
My back ground of product development and design proved useful in growing the business. As I added new items to the line, I would build an instrument to show the product in use and take photos to add the item to the web site. Over time my inventory of ready to play cbgs grew prolifically. I have well over 100 instruments that need new homes. Welcome to MGB's RTP category where you can buy a one of a kind instrument built by me.
Black and White is a 3 string build using a Padron cigar box. This build featured our new Keys Easy Fretter fret board. The pickup cover and knobs are made with a composite material. This build features a Micro Pup pickup with a 500k harness.
Many of the RTP builds were included in the 144 Cigar Box Guitars book. A copy of the book is included with each RTP build. A free wall bracket is also included.
