Easy Connector

The Easy Connector is a quick and easy way to connect electrical components without solder. Strip the wires back 1/4" then press the lever and insert the wire. There are 6 openings along the ground end for connecting all the grounds to a common. There are 4 openings along each side for splicing wires, for example connecting the the hot wire from a pickup to the hotwire on a harness. These spring style connectors provide a solid connection which provide a solid reliable connection. They are sized for 20-24 gauge wires which are commonly used on components.
U-Bass Kit with Box

This kit does include a box. This kit includes all the items needed to build a 20 (see note below on intonation) inch scale electric U-Bass. The neck is made of Okume and the fret board and bridge are made of Walnut. The boxes are made from Sapele and well reinforced for this application. Polyurethane strings are provided as well as a bone nut that is fitted to the strings. The neck includes a preinstalled hanger bolt for mounting to the box.
The heavy duty tuners are made specifically for this type of instrument. Unlike other tuners you will need to disassemble the tuner to install it in head stock. Remove the screw, gear and axle before installing the tuner body. Reassemble and and add washer and ferrule. Tighten with a 15mm wrench. Normal string winders will not work and we suggest you use our 24010 winder which will accommodate the oversized knobs on these tuners.
Due to the mass and size of the strings we have found that a scale length of 20.3 inches works better for intonation. The strings are anchored on the bridge using knots on the inside of the box. The bridge can be glued to the box however we prefer using screws and finish washers.
The electronics package includes a compensated piezo pickup, preamp/equalizer, tuner and battery box. Openings for the preamp and battery box are included. The battery box uses two 2032 (not included) round batteries which are installed positive side up. A plug will need to be installed in the jack for the tuner to operate. Tune to EADG.
Special note: As the strings are soft and the leading edge of the nut is quite sharp, oftentimes the strings will bind on the nut and the gears will grind till they fail. The solution is to lift the strings over the nut as you tighten the tuners

License Plate Guitar Kit

Easy to assemble kit includes everything needed to build a 3 or 4 string license plate guitar, using your favorite 6x12 inch license plate.
Kit includes:
Reinforced Sapele body specifically made for license plate builds. The body is reinforced and machined with necessary mounting holes for adding components.
Kit includes Deluxe Easy Neck.
Lucky 13 pickup with harness ready to install. Pickup has double sided tape and can be mounted on the back of the license plate near the neck.
Hardware includes tuners, strings, stainless steel tailpiece, knobs, strap pins and screws.
A rosewood bridge that may need to be modified to fit around the letters to obtain the preferred action height.
Assembly is easy:
Mount harness/jack assembly to box. Feed ground wire through small hole where tail piece mounts.
Affix pickup to back side of plate.
Install tuners on headstock, use a small amount of super glue to secure the Rosewood string spacer on at the end of the fretboard just beyond the zero fret.
Mount neck on the body using reinforcement plate and hardware.
Mount plate to box using screws.
Install the tailpiece.
Install strings and only tighten lightly.
Locate the bridge where the fret saddle on the bridge is 24 inches from the nut. Modify the bridge to get the right action height.

Ghost Pups with harness

In some builds it is preferred to place the pickup under the lid of the box, this practice is often referred to as "ghosting". Many builders have had good success using the MGB flat pups for these applications. MGB is proud to introduce our new Ghost Pups. These flat pups/harness assemblies are ideal for ghosting. The pickups include a high quality 3M adhesive pad for securing the pup to the lid of the box. They work best if the surface of the box is relatively smooth. Additional adhesive such as E6000 may be needed for rough surfaces.
The harnesses includes volume and tone pots along with a jack. A ground wire for the the bridge and the hardware are also included. 500k pots are used on the double coil pickups and 250k pots are included on the single coil pickups.
The Lucky 13 and Point Five O are stronger pickups and best suited where the distance to the string is greater than 1/4 inch.
MGB CBG Cheat Sheet

Many builders are not musicians and have limited musical skills. It is often to difficult to know exactly how to tune strings on various instruments. MGB is not a musician and created his own cheat sheet to help him with set ups. While many musicians can get pretty close with tuning a string by ear, others (like MGB) have no idea where they are on the scale. MGB quickly realized it was helpful to use the corelating frequency for tuning. The A note has frequency of 440HZ. The Pano tuner app is very helpful, it provides the note and the frequency. The 88 keys on the piano are listed on the left, moving to the right are popular note tuning for a number of instruments. While there are many tuning possibilities for cbgs listed are a few popular choices.

Two way action can correct either a backbow or upbow on a neck. Twin steel rods and brass threaded blocks allow for precise adjustments to get the perfect alignment on the neck. 4mm hex wrench included. We suggest creating a slot about .25 inches wide .5 inches deep in the neck. Make sure the slot is deep enough so that fretboard does not rest on the brass nuts. Also use a dab of E6000 or silicone caulk under each nut to prevent them from moving, do not glue the rods. The slot should be long enough to conceal the adjustment nut under the neck and/or nut.

Use woodworking glue to secure the fretboard to the neck. Strongly encourage using a clamping caul to help keep the neck and fret board straight. The string spacers mount at the end to keep the strings aligned.
