MGB Guitars is proud to introduce their Easy Box XL enclosure. This innovative enclosure has two sides with two distinct uses. One with a sound hole and one with Bigfoot sound hole. This box was designed and built using the same principles used in acoustic instrument construction. The box is built using purfling and braces to create an incredibly strong and rigid structure. Additional reinforcements were added to key locations to allow when securing bridges. Cover plates are available to cover the sound hole.  Measuring  11 1/2 inches by 8 inches and 2 1/2 thick the box is made from thin ply with a top veneer of Sapele. This box provides a perfect canvass for creating your own piece of musical art. The photo of the box split in two is to show the placement of internal components. All strings are packed in a corrosion resistant envelope and then packed in a reclosable 4 mil bag. MGB is pleased to provide 3 string packs. These made in the US strings are available in several popular assortments. MGB strings are available in two styles, Plain Steel and Nickel Wound. Plain Steel strings are thinner and used in the lower positions on a instrument and create higher pitches. Nickel Wound strings are much thicker and heavier and used on the higher positions on an instrument and create lower pitches. Using a combination of different styles and diameters tuned to different pitches is the goal. The scale length of the neck is also critical a factor in selecting the correct strings. Scales lengths from 24-25.5 inches are the standard for guitars. We generally make recommendations for scale lengths in that range. If the scale length is longer or shorter, other strings may work better. Picking the right strings are a personal choice. At MGB we tend to prefer lighter strings like .013, .017 and .026 tuned to GDG. We offer an assortment of sizes in both styles. We also offer different quantities, you can buy one, three or a dozen strings. We believe our offering provides lots of options for builders. You can pick your favorite strings or do some experimentation with different strings.   MGB's CBG cheat sheet is a valuable tool for better understanding the different pitches we are referring to and can be found HERE. Having a digital caliper in your toolbox is helpful when you need to identify a string.

The Easy Fretter is a pre loaded and ready to go fretboard that is sized to fit the 2 inch material found at the big box stores. It is made from Rosewood.  Ultra smooth satin finished composite fretboard 25 1/2 inch scale 19 3/8 inches long 1 1/2 inches wide  .24 inch thick 13 Frets on Diatonic  Zero fret installed  Zero fret is .020 taller than other frets Rosewood string spacer included for either 3 or 4 strings Use woodworking glue to secure the fretboard to the neck. Strongly encourage using a clamping caul to help keep the neck and fret board straight. The string spacers mount at the end to keep the strings aligned.
